It is a fact (perhaps little-known among younger and recently-joined members) that the City of Birmingham Group began life as the Midland Federation of Ramblers in 1930. Our former chairman Michael Bird wrote a history of the Midland Area of the Ramblers' Association in 2010, to co-incide with the Ramblers' 75th Anniversary Celebrations. You can download and read it here.
The Group is part of the Warwickshire Area of the Ramblers. Its aims are to promote walking, protect and promote access to open countryside, protect footpaths and organise walks which we hope all members can enjoy.
We are an ethnically diverse group with a mature membership that is young at heart and welcoming to all.
Although governed by and subject to the rules of the Ramblers nationally, the affairs of the Group are managed on a day-to-day basis by its elected officers and commitee.
We have a great programme of walks for all abilities, holidays and social activities.
If you wish to walk with us regularly, then you will need to consider membership if you have not already done so.
