The Group needs walk leaders, so in addition to those members who already volunteer on a regular basis, we encourage members who have not led before to do so. We therefore have a training programme covering navigation, map-reading and walk-leading skills.

The courses are run by our friend Derek Jones (see below) and are not free, but the cost will be re-imbursed by the committee for anyone who undertakes to lead walks for us in the future.

MAP READING & NAVIGATION COURSES FOR WALKERS.

These courses have been a feature for a good few years, and many have benefited from them, run either in partnership with Solihull College or with the support of our Ramblers group. Courses focus on appropriate levels of the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) accreditation: Bronze & Silver. Programmes are mainly practical, and course charges cover registration, certificates, badges, assessment, maps, facilitation etc.

The 3 weekly sessions will run from 10am until 2pm and the cost in total will be £30.

If you have any queries please ask derek.jones@blueyonder.co.uk (0121 744 7881)
