Our activities > Walking > Public walks

Our next public walk will be Sutton Park on Saturday 10th February, 09:30 AM. Meeting place: Snow Hill Station ticket office.

Leaders: Barry Semp. Maps: Explorer 220. Catching the 10.05 train to Sutton Coldfield.

Our Saturday walks for the public have been the main source of new members in recent years.

These walks are not intended for experienced walkers, or members of rambling groups other than the City of Birmingham Group. Walks of approximately 5 miles are organised once a month on Saturdays using trains or buses. You don't have to be a member of the Ramblers' Association to join these walks. Please wear sensible shoes and bring a raincoat or umbrella, just in case. Paths may be muddy. There may be stiles. Children are welcome with an adult, provided the children can walk the distance. Dogs are not allowed on walks, except registered assistance dogs. On all walks participants should bring food, something to drink and suitable footwear. Boot covers (e.g. plastic bags) are suitable for pub stops. Some walks have a pub/tearoom at the midpoint. If necessary, e.g. because of flooding, we may change the route, or take you on a different walk.

There is no charge for public walks, but you will need to pay bus and/or rail fares. You may save money by buying a group ticket together with other walkers.

The meeting points for our Public Walks tend to be either at the ticket office of one of the City Centre railway stations in Birmingham (ie New Street, Snow Hill or Moor Street), or at a designated bus-stop. See individual walks for exact arrangements.

If you would like to join one of our public walks then contact us using the enquiry page.

All of our walks for the general public are listed on the current programme page.
